                 History Garden

The Punta Gorda Garden Club developed  the History Garden in the Punta Gorda History Park in 2003. The Garden Club approached the Punta Gorda Historical Society with a concept for the garden   The idea was to approximate a garden filled with plants that would have been growing in Punta Gorda in 1887, when it was incorporated.
Antique roses, day lilies, allamandas, coreopsis, hollyhock, statice, herbs and ferns are planted here. The garden also features a white picket fence and white wooden arbor along with paver bricks salvaged from the city.  Club members replace the annuals seasonally and maintain the perennials.
